Ideas
Most of my professional experience involves educational programs, interactive exhibits and presentations. But if you're feeling adventurous, I'd be happy to direct my brain to any challenge to help make the world a better place.
Educational programs
Rent my brain to create a program for schools, a workshop for adults, or an educational event for the general public. I coordinated the Vancouver Aquarium's Aquavan outreach program to bring aquatic education to students throughout British Columbia. It won awards from the BC Science Council and the Canadian Association of Zoos, Parks and Aquariums. I have also developed and delivered science workshops and coordinated week-long camps for elementary school teachers on behalf of Engaging Science and Science World. Subjects have included marine ecology, sport science and the science of Shackleton's Antarctic adventure. Recent clients include the Gulf of Georgia Cannery and the Britannia Heritage Shipyard.
Interactive exhibits
Rent my brain to conceptualize an exhibit, research the content, and write the text. I designed the content for Science World's $1.2 million Our World gallery on sustainability. I worked with a team to develop interactive experiences that provoked people into thinking about the consequences of their every day choices. Other exhibitions and galleries I have curated dealt with flight, mining, and perception.
Presentations
Rent my brain to develop and deliver fun and effective presentations. I co-hosted a dozen Science in the City episodes at schools throughout the Lower Mainland for City-TV Breakfast Television. I also developed and hosted an all-staff team-building day for Science World.
Praise for Raymond’s Brain
“We appreciate the work you have done with the students over the past months, and your enthusiasm seems to have been contagious—many of the students have really been ‘turned on’ to science, which is a wonderful achievement.”
